Ayurvedic tips for hot summer days / ayurvedische Tipps für heisse Sommertage

Standard

Not only my current pregnancy-related weight gain makes the ongoing heat period a physical strain. The high temperatures and the lack of rain freshness are also a problem for the rest of the family. Therefore, we have informed ourselves about cooling spices and foods according to Ayurveda – the Indian nutrition philosophy. We found the following tips particularly effective:

Vegetable / fruit / nuts:
• cucumber
• artichokes
• spinach
• zucchini
• melon
• coconut (the flesh as well as the oil or the coconut water)
• grapes

Herbs and spices:
• mint
• rose petals
• hibiscus
• cumin
• basil
• coriander

On the other hand, it is generally advised to abstain from heavy, greasy foods, from hot spices such as chili and from black tea and coffee.

Especially we would like to point out our recipe for Rose Lassi (link here) – a light, delicious summer treat! 😊

Pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding – in the last two years since Akeera’s procreation, both my body feeling and my relationship to the female body in general has changed very positively. From ‚taking note‘ to deep respect. The fact that a child can develop in my belly, that I can provide this child with all the necessary nutrients through the umbilical cord and mother’s milk – there nature had really a brilliant idea!
