Vegan Diwali sweets: KHEER

Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, has a high priority in our Indian-Swiss family. We decorate our apartment and our garden with lamps and lights and celebrate in the evening by candlelight a Pooja. And just like with the western-cultural ounterpart Christmas, sweets also play a central role. Vegan Lucernese Gingerbread/ Veganer Luzerner Lebkuchen

One of the hottest summers in history (according to the records) is slowly coming to an end. Oh, how we enjoyed it: swimming, hiking and yoga in the garden, Nicecream, vegan BBQs, vegetables and herbs directly from the garden – and hours and hours of playing in the forest. The thermometer still shows 30°C, and we still have a few weeks of river swimming and sea bathing. However, the light coldness in the early morning hours and the birds on the electricity wires clearly show: Autumn is on its way!
We look very much forward to the colourful season with pumpkin soup and fruit bread. To get into the right autumn feeling, we have developed a vegan version of the tasty Lucernese gingerbread – fast, easy and super yummy! 😊 Weiterlesen

Elderflower/Holunderblüten

Like white clouds the aromatic elderflower blossoms shine again in forests and gardens. As a plate decoration, the small flowers give each dish a summery note. But the elderflower, besides its sweet aroma, also contains a true variety of health benefits. The essential oils in the blooms are dehydrating and promote the excretion of toxins, fight viruses and bacteria, reduce fever and relieve cold symptoms. Cauliflower pudding – Blumenkohlpudding

No matter if you like cauliflower or not – to try cauliflower pudding is a must! The purée gives each variation a great, creamy consistency without dominating the taste of the dish – surprisingly! The high vitamin and mineral content and the low calorie amount make cauliflower a light, healthy eating pleasure.

The basic recipe always looks the same: Steam 200g cauliflower and let it cool. Add dates (depending on the sweetness desire 2-5 pieces) and blend it to a nice smooth purée. Weiterlesen

Nicecream variation

Who does not love it: sun, deck chair and a delicious ice cream! But many of the purchased sweets are full with sugar and additives – bad for us, unthinkable for our 17 month old daughter. While experimenting, we have discovered delicious alternatives, which not only convince tastewise, but even are a healthy snack. We would like to introduce you to three suggestions. Vegan avocado cheese cake

  • The start of spring in Europe, Holi in India, flowers in full bloom and sunshiny days – there are many reasons to celebrate! And that’s what we do: with coffee and cake in the garden! 🙂 We developed a healthy, vegan cheesecake version without refined sugar – not just because of the upcoming bikini season. 🙂
